Blarney Castle

It is a cold blustery day today. We drove to Blarney and toured the castle. The wind was blowing fierce and was even worse the higher we climbed up the narrow, winding staircase to the top. I was thinking my mother would have a panic attack with how steep and narrow the steps and staircase was!
When we got the top, we saw the gorgeous view of the countryside, and decided it was worth the climb up. Of course we both had our moments of panic as the wind gusts blew us around up top, or we realized how far up we were! Hilarious video was shot in the moment...then the cameras were put away for fear of walking somewhere we shouldn't and falling off the castle.
Below is Blarney House, the castle and grounds and the town of Blarney itself.

  1. Was the Blarney Stone @ Blarney Castle? I've heard stories about the Stone...hope you didn't kiss it!

  2. Yes, the stone is up top, on top of the castle. Ellie and I both decided we really didn't need to kiss it, but in some weird flight of courage Ellie did it. She said it was the single most scary thing she has ever done. After watching her, and how windy it was, I decided that no, I really don't need the gift of eloquence. I conquered my fears by just getting up to the top of the castle for goodness sake!

  3. Looks like a perfect way to spend Thanksgiving. The weather sounds like what it should be in Ireland...cold, rainy and windy! I can't get over how lush and green the landscape is there. I hope you and Ellie continue to have a wonderful time!
